Increase Economic Development:
The time has come for us to move to the forefront in economic development. We have to be aggressive in our efforts to bring growth to our region.
-Work with residents, municipal governments, surrounding districts and civic leaders to spur job creation and target state resources.
-Capitalize on new opportunities for development in Life Sciences, Green Technology, and Logistics.
- Enhance funding for the creation of job retraining programs for unemployed and underemployed workers.
-Expand the coverage and access to public transportation.
Strengthen Public Education:
Public education has been vital to the success of our community and nation. As a product of public school, I understand its’ importance and the integral role it plays in the lives of students.
-Fight for legislation that will help our public school system become world class.
-Assist the students, parents, Normandy School Board and the Superintendent with earning full accreditation while strengthening the district academically to prepare students for college, trades and careers.
-Support community involvement programs that assist students in achieving academic success.
Improve Worker Rights:
There have been relentless attacks on organized labor through the legislative process. I will provide representation that will defend and fight for the gains made through collective bargaining. These gains not only help union members but all working men and women.
-Oppose all “Right to Work for Less” legislation so workers can be fairly compensated for their hard work.
-Support worker’s right to Freely Organize in order to encourage fairness within all jobs.
-Be an advocate for fair wages and benefits so workers can comfortably support their family.
-Support Project Labor Agreements (PLA), Prevailing Wages, and Equal Pay for all citizens.
Preserving Social Programs:
It is imperative that we secure the “safety net” and make sure our most vulnerable citizens are cared for.
- Fight for improved Medicare benefits and coverage.
-Protect funding of Senior Services and improve programs.
-Ensure early childcare programs, maternal and child health services, and community clinics have the support they need.
